Ideogram Vector API

Create SVGs from a prompt or convert an existing image. Submit, poll, and download.

Partner access

Your account must be enabled by Ideogram for these early-access endpoints. Contact your Ideogram representative to enable the flows you need. Get your API key, then set IDEOGRAM_API_KEY below. Authenticate with the Api-Key header at https://api.ideogram.ai.

Accepted response: {"generation_id":"<generation-id>"}. Use that ID to poll for results below.

Parameter	Description
`prompt`	Required. A text description, up to 9,500 characters.
`quality`	Optional. Accepted values: `low` — Faster generation. `medium` — Balanced speed and quality. Used if omitted. `high` — Highest quality.
`num_images`	Optional. Number of SVGs, from 1 to 8. Defaults to 1.
`aspect_ratio`	Optional. Accepted values (width × height): `auto` — Automatic aspect ratio. Used if omitted. `1x1` — Square. `1x4` , `1x3` , `1x2` , `9x16` , `10x16` , `2x3` , `3x4` , `4x5` — Portrait. `5x4` , `4x3` , `3x2` , `16x10` , `16x9` , `2x1` , `3x1` , `4x1` — Landscape.
`seed`	Optional. An integer from 0 to 2147483647 for reproducible generation.
`images`	Optional. Up to 5 multipart image files. The first image is the primary source; the others are additional references.
`image_asset_identifiers`	Optional. Up to 5 existing asset identifiers, each with asset_type and asset_id. Takes priority over images when both are provided.

Parameter	Description
`image`	Source image as a multipart file. JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 50 MB.
`image_asset_identifier`	An existing asset instead of an image upload. Send an object with asset_type and asset_id. For example: {"asset_type": "RESPONSE", "asset_id": "<asset-id>"}. Use application/json for the request, or an application/json part in multipart.
`mode`	Optional. Accepted values: `simple` — Fewer, simpler shapes. `default` — Preserves finer details. Used if omitted.

Poll and download your SVGs

GET /v1/generations/{generation_id}

After either submission, poll with the same API key. While status is pending, wait before polling again. Stop on failed. When it is completed, download each signed data[].url. Each result is an SVG with MIME type image/svg+xml.

If a request is still pending, poll again with the same ID rather than submitting another request. Download each returned URL if you requested multiple SVGs.

Access errors: A 401 indicates an authentication problem. A 403 means your account is not authorized for the operation; contact your Ideogram representative.
